Rwanda will take part in the 2nd edition of the All Africa Military Games which will be hosted in Abuja, Nigeria from September 18-October 1.
Rwanda will take part in the 2nd edition of the All Africa Military Games which will be hosted in Abuja, Nigeria from September 18-October 1.
According to the invitation from the Nigerian Ministry of Defence signed by the Games local organising committee chairman, Maj. Gen. ID Pennap, Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) was invited along with other Armed forces from the continent.
Invited countries will participate in different sporting disciplines ranging from judo, taekwondo, boxing, athletics, swimming, football, handball, basketball, volleyball, badminton, shooting to golf respectively.
Rwanda Defence Forces will join other armed forces from South Africa, Algeria, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Benin, Kenya, Chad, Botswana, Lesotho, Togo, BurkinaFaso, Libya, Tunisia, Burundi, Madagascar, Zambia, Cameroon, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Cape Verde, Mali, Central Africa Republic, Mauritania, DR Congo, Morocco, Congo, Namibia, Ivory Coast, Niger, Djibouti, Nigeria, Egypt, Uganda, Gabon, Gambia, Senegal, Ghana and Sierra Leone.
The International Military Sports Council, CISM awarded the hosting Rights for the Games to Nigeria in view of the exemplary performance of the country in Peace- Keeping efforts and its big brotherly role in Africa.
The All Africa Military Games organizers are taking its revival seriously and after Abuja 2009, it moves to South Africa in 2011.
