Rayon Sport and Amavubi Stars striker Labama Bokota Kamana is still stranded in neighboring DR Congo.
And reliable information reaching Times Sport indicates that he’s been held on by Vita Fc, a club based in Kinshasa who want him to play for them at all cost.
The 24-year old signed for Rayon in July this year from Fc Kabasha of Goma in the Eastern DRC for undisclosed fee.
He guided the Blues to second place in the Primus National League in which he was the league top scorer with 14 goals despite playing only ten matches, all in the second round.
Like all foreign players in the country, the pint-sized striker returned to his native DRCongo for holiday at the end of the season, however, reports coming from the Blues camp reveal that he was held on by Vita officials on his way back to Kigali early this month.
Rayon vice president John Dukundane told Times Sport early this week that his club has absolute rights on the player whom he said they went through the right procedures to land him.
"We can’t let him go like that. He’s our rightful player and if any club wants him, they must talk to us first,” Dukundane said. Having been instrumental to Rayon’s campaign last season, Bokota’s loss, if it ends up that way, would be a major blow to the club and the national team whose fans had taken him on in unprecedented fashion.
"He (Bokota) only featured for our club in the second leg last season and everyone saw how experienced and talented he was so will for sure force us to go for him wherever he may be,” Dukundane confessed.
The club vice president is expected to lead Rayon’s three-man team that will head to DR Congo to hold talks with the player and whichever club is holding on him over the weekend.
Bokota made his international debut for his adopted Rwanda against Liberia scoring the first goal and set up the two in the Amavubi Stars’ 4-0 demolition of the Lone Stars at Amahoro stadium on September 3.
Rayon have already started their pre-season training in preparation for the start of the 2007/08 season that is scheduled to kick off November 17.
