Kigali marked the last stop of the provincial tryouts of Mister Rwanda 2022 with a massive turn-up that shaped Wednesday’s auditions held at Century Park Nyarutarama, leaving 52 contestants given a pass to the next stages.
Kigali auditions attracted a record of 77 aspirants out of 400 who registered, a turn-up that was way higher compared to other auditions upcountry, leaving a total of 77 contestants selected from the country’s four provinces and Kigali City.
This was not easy for the judges; fashion guru Sunday Justin, journalist Aissa Cyiza and Chear Sebudwege, who attentively listened to every contestant while they talked about their projects and how they answered all the questions they were being asked.

According to the head of the jury, Sunday Justin, giving a pass to a Mister Rwanda contestant was based on three main pillars of the pageant which are, bravery, brain and culture.
Richard Rwema Gihana, a contestant with speech and hearing impairment, was the first with disability vying for the Mister Rwanda crown and was able to secure a pass from the jury in the City of Kigali.
The 53 contestants given a pass in Kigali joined five other contestants selected in Eastern Province, seven who were selected in Northern Province, eight contestants from Western Province and five contestants from Southern Province.
However, further information on this pageant regarding pre-selections and other stages ahead has not yet been announced.
The Mister Rwanda 2022 winner will walk away with a car, whose brand is yet to be confirmed, and a 12-month apartment accommodation, among other prizes.
Mister Rwanda is organised by Imanzi Limited to give young men a chance to shine.
