Celebrated Rwandan female referee Salma Mukansanga has secured a deal as a brand ambassador for MTN Rwanda. She was unveiled on Wednesday.

The knight of the whistle made history at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as the first woman to handle a men’s match at the biggest football tournament on the continent.

Born and raised in Rusizi district, southwest of Rwanda, Mukansanga has also officiated in other big competitions such as the 2018 Under-17 Women World Cup, 2019 FIFA Women World Cup, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

She is likely to be considered for the impending 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
