Samuel Dusengiyumva was re-elected on Thursday, August 22, as the Mayor of the City of Kigali, a position he had held for nine months.

Dusengimana, who was the sole candidate for the position, got all the 397 valid votes cast, according to the National Electoral Commission.

His deputies were also re-elected.

Fulgence Dusabimana was re-elected Vice Mayor in Charge of Urbanisation and Infrastructure, while Martine Urujeni was remained as Vice Mayor in charge of Socio-Economic Affairs.

The electoral college consisted of members of the city council and sector councils.

Dusengiyumva is one of the six councillors for the City of Kigali, appointed by President Paul Kagame on Wednesday.

Dusengiyumva first became the Mayor of the City of Kigali in a by-election held in December 2023, to replace Pudence Rubingisa, who had been appointed Governor of Eastern Province.

Prior to that, Dusengiyumva was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government.
