BahAfrica Entertainment is organising the Impanga series awards to acknowledge actors and actresses who play in the series as they celebrate their achievements.

In an interview with Janet Bahavu Usanase, a Rwandan female actress who initiated Impanga Series, told The New Times that she has been dreaming of creating a movie that is so different from others she has seen or acted in.

"I wanted to create something unique, be it in acting, be it in the video, and others. That is when I thought of making Impanga Series which is so exceptional from the common movies in East Africa and whoever watched it can tell,” she said.

With that being said, the last three seasons of Impanga Series generated positive feedback from fans who they prefer to call their family. Currently, the fourth season is also out. Due to the impacts that the series are making in the community, we are building some new careers in the acting and technical team as well.

About the awards Bahavu added, "We organised these awards because we appreciate our actors and actresses. We also did this to celebrate two years of the Impanga Series. We wanted to celebrate them as well as what we have achieved within two years.”

The five categories are; The Best Actor (Men), Best Actor (Boys), Best Actress (Women), Best Actress (Girls), and Best Popularity (Both Male and Female). The winners will be determined by public votes.

Impanga Series is about two twin sisters. One of them, Kami; is a hardworking, loyal girl, while her twin sister Keza, is the complete opposite, no job, bad character, and always goes against Kami’s relationship with her boyfriend James, accusing him of being poor.

Kami and Keza soon find out that their mother who abandoned them since they were so young, went abroad and eventually returned to look for them but has grudges with James’ family. However, James and Kami are willing to fight for their relationship, while Keza enjoys mother’s wealth.

Bahavu shared how challenging it was to work during the pandemic as so many people were not accepted at the scene and the lockdowns which contributed to delays. Impanga Series is aired every Saturday at 6pm on RTV, and on the YouTube Channel of Impanga TV.
