BELGIAN-RWANDAN ARTISTE Stromae, real name Paul Van Haver, has released his third recorded album after almost 10 years without making music.
The 12-track album was composed by Stromae, produced by his creative label Mosaert, and features previously released tracks like ‘Santé,’ and 'L'enfer'.
Talking to Rolling Stone, renowned American Magazine, Stromae revealed that he had disappeared from the limelight over depression and suicidal thoughts.
The Papaoute hit maker also highlighted his past in one of the tracks on the album titled "L’Enfer,” which explores themes of loneliness and depression and reveals Stromae’s suicidal thoughts in the past.
"I have a competitive side, even if I'm more subdued than before. I see Billie Eilish, Aya Nakamura, Adele who are having mega hits, and I want to try to do the same, to measure up. It's ego" he said in an interview with France 24 explaining the reason behind his return.
He also noted that this album was produced in a way that it can help people who are dealing with different issues including depression and suicidal thoughts.
The release of ‘Multitude’ will be followed by a world tour which will start at Coachella on April 16 and 23, and proceed to other cities like Montreal, Washington DC, Vancouver, New York among many others.
Dates for the Multitude tour in Africa haven’t been released yet, but the Belgian-Rwandan artiste is expected to do another homecoming concert in Rwanda through this tour.
Stromae's previous projects were made in the EDM genre, but this time the album is broader, embracing electro, Persian and Chinese flute, Peruvian guitars, Afro sounds from South Africa and much more.
Other tracks on the album include "Invaincu”, "Fils de joie”, "Mon amour”, "Pas vraiment”, "La solassitude”, "Mauvaise journée, "Bonne journée”, "Déclaration”, "C’est que du bonheur” and "Riez”.
The 36 year old artiste is among a few Rwandan artistes that got international recognition and made it to big stages like 2015's Coachella Festival where he performed alongside celebrities like Kanye West.
