Many of us havepolar bear toys because of their outstanding beauty. Their white fur, black nose and eyes give them a unique look. Polar bears are not only toys, they are live animals.

Polar bears are the largest meat- eaters in the world. On average an adult male weighs 900 lbs while a female weights 500 lbs. These giants live between 25-30 years. A female bear produces 1-3 beautiful cubs in a period of 28 months.

A female polar bear is a sow while the male is called a boar and the baby is a cub. Polar bears only live in the Northern Arctic where they spend most time on ice floes.

Different from animals that fear cold weather, a polar bear can only survive in ice. Females prefer ice along the sea shores while the male prefer moving sea ice. Polar bears spend their entire life associated with ice.

Like we have hobbies, polar bears are good swimmers. They can swim for 50 miles without resting. The polar bears’ skin is black; this helps them to soak up as much heat as possible from the sun to keep them warm amidst the cold ice.

Polar bears favorite meals are seals though occasionally eat other animals, eggs and vegetation. Polar bears never drink water; they get all the needed liquids from the animals they eat.

Polar bears rarely stay in groups apart from female- cub groups at the abundant food sources.

Polar bear skin is very useful for Clothing, rugs and blankets. Polar bear meat can also be eaten.

These beautiful animals are now endangered by global warming. The more the earth temperature increases, the ice melts and many of the polar bears die.
