We’ve all been in either big or small situations where we’ve faced the choice to either tell the truth or lie. Our friends have pushed us to do things we don’t wish, situations when telling a lie seemed the only way out.
The problem with lying is that you have to keep lying to cover up the previous lies .Its is a cycle that is hard to come out of. Lying sometimes seems the easiest way to get out of tricky situations though it’s not right. Perhaps we are afraid of the consequences that honesty will bring but its not enough reason to bend our character.
Sometimes we claim to be honest people, while we are being untrue towards a friend or parents. It is so easy to lie to a teacher about homework instead of admitting to our own laziness. We lie sometimes because the truth embarrasses us.
There is no small lie. We need to avoid lies at all times. If people learn to look at us as liars we lose our reputation and good image. It is important that we build character of truth and honesty from the time we are young to avoid mistrust.
I challenge you today to start being honest in everything you do, even in the smallest things. If you are struggling with the temptation to lie, decide today to stand on the truth.
While people around you maylie and deceive to dodge consequences or try to get ahead in life, you will be honest and truthful even when it hurts the most because you know who you are and you wish to build the character of truth.
