The Consumers Choice Awards organised by Karisimbi Events took place in Marriot Hotel, Kigali at a gala night on February 27.

Emmanuel Mugisha, the CEO of Karisimbi Event welcomed the guests with opening remarks in which he expressed gratitude to all companies and individuals who supported the event.

"I am so glad and happy that this happened because it took a lot of energy and time to organise and we promise our best in the near future,” Mugisha said, outlining upcoming events such as the Rwanda Worship Leaders Gala Night slated for April, Kigali International Multicultural Festival that will take place during the CHOGM week and the Service Excellence Awards, which usually happen in October during the customer service week.

RURA representative started by handing out the Special Recognition awards. Prior to that, Mugisha said, "For this special category, they had no need to compete. We did our research and decided to acknowledge their job of bringing positive changes in the society.”

The Consumers Choice Awards is the former Made in Rwanda Awards. This change was made to allow a sense of inclusion to all the possible service and products providers in Rwanda.

The New Times managed to talk to some winners who shared their reactions. 

"Am very happy and proud of myself. To my fellow female artists, we got this! We have to win because we are capable of doing anything and achieving our goals with no fear. Special thanks to my fans who voted for me. I am coming for them all and ready to make them super proud,” said Emerance Bwiza, the Promising Artist of the Year.

The Barista for Better CEO and Pure Pro CEO as well as their counterparts who received the special recognition awards expressed their gratitude and promised to maintain the good work.

Jonas Munyurangabo, the Director General in charge of Planning in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said, "Special thanks to Karisimbi events for organizing this amazing gala. Congratulations to all the winners. We hope to see you keep winning and doing the best forward since you got the deserving encouragement.”
