Last weekend saw the inception of new category in the Rwandan soccer as street kids from different sectors competed in a one-week tournament staged at Amahoro stadium.

Rud boys won the tournament after a hard fought 1-0 win over Voronteri with goal coming from Shishi.

On top of the trophy, the winning team also walked away with Frw 30,000 of which they were not happy with and wanted more cash shouting and tried to cause chaos before they were calmed down.

The second and the third team (White Tigers) were also given kaki envelops whose its content was only known by the organisers.

The event, which was organized by Parental Care for Destitute Children Ministries and sponsored by Chelsea Clark from USA, attracted eight teams.

The teams were grouped in two groups A and B regardless which location street kids came from. But most of the street kids were picked from Nyabugogo, Kigali City Centre and Kimironko.

The Organisers have promised to make the street kids football competition annually and improve it to have better soccer players that would probably join better teams in first and second divisions.

This idea of creating a street kids soccer competition started in 2006 by an up coming pastor Augustine Niyosenga of Kingdom Fellowship Church, Kimironko who claims he has a calling to street children.
