Kenzo in Kigali to collaborate with Bruce Melodie

Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo is in town as he awaits to join Bruce Melodie in studio to finalise a music project they have together.

The duo met in Tanzania in December last year to support Harmonize during the launch of his new album ‘High School’. Bruce Melodie was able to perform at the concert and Weekender understands that Harmonize played a key role in linking his ‘two friends’ to record a song together.

Kenzo arrived in Kigali on Thursday, February 24, and Bruce Melodie was at Kigali International Airport to welcome him.

"Of course the collaboration will benefit both of us. I appreciate Bruce’s music; I love his music and I am a big fan,” Kenzo said shortly after his arrival.

"I missed Rwanda and I am here to combine energy with my brother (Bruce) as far a music is concerned and I hope we can do magic,” he added.

No details were revealed concerning which producer will record or shoot the video of the song, or the name of the song itself, but Bruce Melodie promised to share more details soon.

Melodie said the Ugandan’s move confirms that Rwanda’s music has been growing for the past few years.

"To see Kenzo coming to Kigali to work on a music project with me shows that he has confidence in what we, Rwandan musicians, are doing, like we do for his music. It shows that our music is growing day after day,” the singer said.

"I won’t say much on how the song will benefit my music, hopefully we can wait and see the outcome,” he added.

The last time Kenzo featured in a Rwandan artiste’s song was in 2019 when Mani Martin pursued him to work on the remix of his song ‘Afro’ which was among the most popular in Rwanda and East Africa.

The song, however, was not as successful as anticipated and reports suggested that it flopped because the Ugandan singer had not promoted it like he does for his songs after both artistes argued on who must own it.

Kenzo, however, laughed off the reports and said that he is ‘not a music promoter’, rather, a recording artiste.
