ITF junior finals set for Friday

After two weeks of entertaining tennis, the ITF Junior tennis tournament comes to a close this Friday, 25 February at Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC-Kigali) tennis grounds in Kicukiro.

A total of 85 players from 34 countries participated in the tournament.

In the boys’ single’s final, Egypt’s Hady El Kordy will face Yazid Lahjomri from Morocco while another Egyptian, Mariam Ibrahim and Arina Valitova from Slovania play the girls’ singles finals.

At 9:00AM, Seungmin Park (South Korea) and Pavan Appu (USA) face Tunisians Rayen Hermassi and Skander Mezouar in the boys’ doubles final.

In the girls’ doubles final, India Fenieys (France) and Manal Ennaciri (Morocco) play Jadesola Cole (Great Britain) and Mariam Ibrahim (Egypt) continuing their game that was on Thursday disrupted by rain.

The ITF World Tennis Tour is organized by the Rwanda Tennis Federation, International Tennis Federation and Rwanda’s Ministry of Sports.

The tournament is meant to provide a launch pad for the best young players to go on and achieve success in the professional game.

The top eight juniors at the end of the year go head-to-head at the prestigious season-ending ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals.
