Four Egyptian players will on Wednesday, 23 February take part in the quarterfinals of the ITF junior tennis tournament taking place at Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC-Kigali) tennis grounds in Kicukiro.
The boys and girls from the North African country also have the top seeded player at the tournament in Hady El Kordy who will be facing Michael Kouame from France.
El Kordy who is 129 in the world rankings will be looking for a win after he fell to a shock defeat in the finals of the first leg of the tournament to American, Tristan Shringer. Shringer pulled out of the second leg because off a dislocated shoulder.
The other Egyptian players in the quarterfinals are: Ismail Shafei who’ll be playing Tunisia’s Hermassi Rayern, Mariam Ibrahim will play Slovakian, Ester Gonosova while Nardine Salem faces Ennaciri Manal from Morocco.
The semifinals will be played on Thursday before the final matches of both singles and doubles on Friday.
The ITF World Tennis Tour is organized by the Rwanda Tennis Federation, International Tennis Federation and Rwanda’s Ministry of Sports.
The tournament is meant to provide a launch pad for the best young players to go on and achieve success in the professional game.
The top eight juniors at the end of the year go head-to-head at the prestigious season-ending ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals.
