One of the sponsors of Tour du Rwanda, Cogebanque has embarked on a new campaign dubbed ‘Tugendane’ aimed at bringing its financial services closer to its customers who are following the cycling competition.

During the tournament which kicked off on February 20, and will run until February 27, customers of Cogebanque will be receiving information regarding different financial services they can enjoy as well as get them on the go as they continue to follow the race.

The race has attracted 95 cyclists from 19 teams from various countries competing in 8 difficult stages crossing nationwide.

Antoine Iyamuremye, Head of Marketing and Product development, said the campaign, ‘Tugendane’ which is loosely translated as ‘let’s walk together’ means to tell Rwandans that the bank is willing to walk with them towards achieving their financial goals.

"During Tour du Rwanda we will reach various places. So, we want to tell someone who is either working in the event or any other Rwandan to join our digital platforms in order to access any of our banking services anywhere they might be,” he said.

Through roadshows, branding, activations, and media publications, people will be guided on how to access these financial services.

According to Iyamuremye, the digital products include; Mobile Banking (USSD on *505# and Mobile App "Coge mBank”), where anyone with either a smartphone or a feature phone can be able to view their bank statement and make transactions that in the past could only be done via bank tellers.

Including also the internationally recognized cards (Mastercards and SmartCash) where one can make payments in different countries without using cash, and the SchoolGear product which facilitates the payment of school fees without the requirement of showing bank slips because the process allows direct linkage with partner schools.

During the tournament, the bank will also have agents deployed across various places where the race will be conducted to facilitate any person who wishes to open a bank account as well as provide other information.

Opening the account only requires a passport photograph and a deposit of Rwf 2000.

Cogebanque has 28 branches, over 600 agents and 36 ATMs across the country.
