31-YEAR-OLD visual artist, Jean Baptiste Rukundo in collaboration with Indiba Art Space has organised a solo art exhibition dubbed ‘Resurrection of Pallet Knife’ featuring a series of painted portraits reflecting on people’s everyday life.
The exhibition which will run for 2 weeks, was opened on Saturday night, February 19 at Indiba arts space in Kimihurura, Gasabo district.
Speaking at the exhibition space, Rukundo revealed that most of his artworks speaks about true stories or opinions he would wish to give in the society that would help people. Through painting, he express all of it and delivers his message through his artworks.

He declared that his main goal for the exhibition was to create discussions among people who see his artworks and also get recognized by different art lovers.
The contemporary artist who graduated at Nyundo School of Art in 2011 declared that he used to draw since he was young, as a hobby but it then grew into a profession in 2012, a year after completing his studies in sculpture and ceramics.
He declared that his passion for art kept him going and encouraged him because it was not an easy road for the past years.
He noted that his artwork is a way to speak to people the way he wants to inspire his community. He says the love for art among Rwandans has grown over the years even though customers are still few but believes to see a change in the future.
