They are among the most loved and trending artistes in Rwanda at the moment and their performance just proved that.

Nigerian superstars Ruger and Av alongside Ish Kevin, one of the trending artistes in Rwanda, proved their musical prowess in a stunning performance on Saturday, at Canal Olympia Rebero.

Organised by Drip City Ent, a new entertainment company in the country,  the event, which was the first to attract international artistes this year, brought back the party mood in the country and left many revelers wanting more.

Around 7:00 pm, DJ SL of Nigeria welcomed people to the show with a smooth mix of Afrobeats, Hip Hop and house music songs as revelers were warming up for the show.

Singer Gustave Fuel was the first on stage. He belted out some hits including some on his recent album dubbed The Lion King.

Thereafter, upcoming artistes Afrique, Okkama, Gabiro Guitar and Ariel Wayz performed some of their trending songs for revelers whose mood had slightly been dampened by the drizzles.

At around 9:30 pm, Kenny Kshot took the stage alongside his gang made up of Loud Sound movement members. He performed a few hits including 'Intare' freestyle and later brought DJ Pyfo and E.T on stage to perform their all-time hit dubbed ‘Kantona’.

As soon as MC Lion Manzi mentioned the name Ish Kevin, the mood changed at the venue and everyone was hyped to see what the rapper got for his fans.

Ish Kevin performed some of his trending songs like 'Babahungu' but the DJ didn’t allow him to finish his performance over shortage of time, a move that led to a huge saga at the concert.

The fast-rising artiste and his gang did not seem impressed by the DJ’s action, stating that Rwandan musicians should also be respected like others.

Ish Kevin refused to leave the stage until he performed his number one hit song, Amakosi, a song that woke up everyone and made the party start over again.

In fact, revelers requested for Ish Kevin to stay on the stage, but it didn’t happen because of time management. This was followed by a long pause in which MC Lion Manzi engaged the crowd to explain the issue.

AV, a fast rising Nigerian artiste who was among the guest performers hit the stage after, and brought back the party mood by performing some of  his hits like 'Big Thug Boys' which is making trends on social media platforms such as Tik Tok, Instagram and Snapchat.

Thereafter, Av and DJ SL brought back Ish Kevin and his squad on stage to perform 'Ibitambo', as they paved the way for Nigerian super star, Ruger.

Arguably one of the best young artistes on the continent, Ruger did not waste time as soon as he stepped on the stage at around 10:15 pm. He started performing his recent released song dubbed 'Snap', which is already taking over globally.

Dressed in a Rwandan jersey (Ijesi), designed by House of Toyo, Ruger proved why he is trending worldwide as he stopped singing and the crowd did it for him. He performed songs like 'Dior', which made him a household name, 'Bounce', 'Snap' among others.

In the end, revelers didn’t want to go home after Ruger’s performance until the MC reminded them to leave before curfew.

"This was a massive turn up. Kigali missed this,” said David Mugabo, a music lover who attended the concert.

Ernestine Kayiranga, a high school student who is a big fan of AV and Ruger told this publication that she was thrilled by the performance of the two artistes, however, the period for performances was short.

"I wish we could party until morning," Kayiranga added.

For Davis Shyaka, another reveler at the event, Rwandan artistes should be given more time to perform their songs without limiting them.

"The only way we can get to a higher level is to first appreciate and give respect to home grown artistes," he added.
