Fast rising Afro-beat artistes Ruger and AV have promised to deliver the best in their performances this Saturday, February 19.
The two Nigerian singers are in Kigali since Tuesday to headline Drip City’s first mega concert which will be held at Canal Olympia Rebero this Saturday.
During a presser which took place at Onomo Hotel Kigali this Thursday, Ruger said that his first performance in Rwanda will be a massive turn up and a space to showcase some of his projects which have been trending globally,
Rwandan fast rising artistes Kenny K Shot and Ariel Wayz will also perform at the concert.
Born Michael Adebayo Olayinka, Ruger also noted that being able to perform in Kigali is an opportunity to get introduced to other sounds from different cultures.
"The energy is still the same. Let’s all come early and have the best party in Kigali,” The ‘Dior’ hit maker said.
The 22 year old musician was in Kampala, Uganda, last weekend where he thrilled thousands of music lovers, something he believes will be similar in Kigali.
In addition, Ruger revealed that he is looking forward to collaborate with local artistes in Rwanda especially the fast rising ones making different genres such as Afro-beat and Hip Hop.
"The cheat code in this industry is to keep creating. The more you continue to create the more you grow,” Ruger said, giving tips to local artistes on how they can be creative and get to an international level.
AV, the brains behind global hits such as ‘Big Thug Boys’ and ‘Confession’ told the press that from the energy and positive vibes he saw in Kigali in the past few days, there is hope that Saturday will be a massive turn up.
Apart from his much anticipated performance, AV also highlighted that he will feature as many local artistes as possible during the period he has in Rwanda.
"The vibes in this country are crazy. We should all take them to Canal Olympia this Saturday,” AV added.
DJ SL who is also one of the guest performers of the show said that Rwandan music sounds good in almost each and every music style, but more especially in Hip Hop.
This, he said, will make him go back to Nigeria with different Rwandan songs to increase its popularity in West Africa and other areas of the world.
Different local artistes also told the press that they are going to deliver their best on the stage this Saturday.
"Everyone can see how the young generation is taking over based on the list of headliners. Let’s keep the same energy in uplifting Rwandan music,” said Gabiro Guitar, a Rwandan musician who will also perform alongside Ruger and AV this Saturday.
For Ariel Ways, a top female singer who will also perform at the show, it has been a long time without engaging with fans because of covid-19 restriction, but this weekend will be a great comeback of the whole entertainment industry.
Ivan Mudenge, a member of Drip City Ent which is organising the event told the press that this is one of many events which they will bring to Rwanda this year.
Mudenge also clarified that Drip City’s goal is to see local music shine and get international recognition, something which will be done through different shows that will help musicians showcase their projects.
Drip City Ent is a new entertainment company in Kigali.
Fast rising artiste Ish Kevin, Ariel Ways, Kenny K-shot, and Afrique, an upcoming artiste behind ‘Agatunda’, are among other local artistes who will perform at the event.
Tickets for the event are available at Rwf10, 000 regular, Rwf25, 000 VIP and a table of six people at Rwf300, 000.
