Engen Petroleum Rwanda, a local company affiliated to Engen Holdings International Limited based in South Africa, Friday joined Rwandans in belatedly marking the 15th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Over twenty of its employees yesterday added their voice in condemning the Genocide in which over a million people perished when the company visited and paid tribute to the fallen victims whose remains are laid to rest at Kigali’s main memorial centre in Gisozi.

Speaking to scribes shortly after laying a wrath at the mass graves, the company’s Managing Director Adama Soro condemned the 1994 massacres.

He said, "Given the history, I would say that Rwanda has experienced one of the biggest tragedies ever known and my prayer is that it may never happen again not only in Rwanda but the whole world.”

He highlighted that visiting the memorial centre so as to pay tribute to the victims there and others all over the country was a cooperate social responsibility especially as the country mourns the over one million innocent lives that were lost.

"In our will to operate closer to the local communities in the country, the entire staff of Engen Rwanda on behalf of Engen Holdings International limited, we are here to join the Rwandan people in their successful overcoming of the disaster and the trauma that came along in 1994,” said Adama.

He promised to stand with all Rwandans every year during the dark month of April as they remember a loss which according to him may never fade away.

According to authorities at Gisozi, since the commemoration began early this month, various private and public companies have visited the centre and made contributions to help improve the centre to better standards.
