Two Rwandan cyclists Samuel Mugisha and Moise Mugisha have been included in the squad for South Africa’s ProTouch continental team ahead of the 2022 Tour du Rwanda.

The 14th edition of the race is scheduled to take place from February 20 to 27, 2022 and the riders who will ride for the club are; Moise Mugisha, Samuel Mugisha, Main Kent, Ormiston Callum, and Charles Kagimu.

"We will take the positives for making it to the final squad and strive to do better this time. We have been preparing well for the tournament and we will be ready for the race,” Samuel Mugisha said

No Rwandan rider has won a stage in the race’s last three editions. Earlier this year, Cristian Rodriguez, who rides for French Side Total Direct Energie, became the first Spanish and European to win the Tour du Rwanda.

Every year, a total of $51,000 (about Rwf51 million) is given out to winners in stage and general classifications. The overall yellow jersey winner takes home $4,000, while a stage winner gets $1,400.
