AS RWANDAN MUSIC is growing, several artistes are releasing Extended Plays (EP) and mixtapes while albums are not left behind. Singer Niyo Bosco recently came up with a project ‘6 Weeks of Niyo’, to accord enough time for the singer to release more songs and engage with his audience.

"The ‘6 Weeks of Niyo’ is a style we are using to release Niyo Bosco’s songs and more projects about his music journey. We didn’t do it as an EP, mixtape, or album since we didn't want to give out all the songs at once. Instead, every weekend we are releasing a song until six weeks are over.” Irene Murindahabi told The New Times.

So far, three weeks have passed since the project was initiated, and so do their consecutive three songs which are; ‘Ese Urankunda’, ‘Abanyamabara’ and ‘Babylon’, all of which are out.

When asked why they preferred to use this new kind of style, Murindahabi replied, "Niyo Bosco is a very big talent. He has been doing hit songs, but he has so many songs to the extent we can’t rely on the usual speed he had in song releasing. The year comes to an end without sharing enough songs with his fans who want more. We wanted to change that for the better.”

Murindahabi revealed that Niyo doesn’t only do Afro Beat, instead he has some other genres and messages. As his management, they wanted to alert people that he is more than doing summer hits. That is why they decided to introduce ‘The 6 Weeks of Niyo’ on which songs from other languages will also be heard.

"The next song after these will be released in summer. After then, we will carry on with his normal rhythm of releasing songs. This year, we are giving you bangers,” he added.
