A total of 14 contestants have passed to represent the Eastern Province during auditions held Sunday, February 6, in Kayonza District.
The province records the highest representation at the ongoing beauty contest whose upcountry auditions concluded last weekend.
Held at Silent Hill Hotel in Kayonza District, the auditions attracted 76 contestants from a staggering 98 aspirants who registered to represent the Eastern Province.
Two aspirants were however, barred from contest due to the fact that they participated in previous auditions.
The Miss Rwanda Organisation Team and members of the press were made to spend a night at Kayonza straight after the Huye auditions were concluded, to make sure that the jury accords ample time for the contestants and avoid delays that happened during the previous auditions.
Contestants started to face the panel of provincial judges Jolly Mutesi, James Munyaneza and Evelyn Umurerwa, where each would take between three to five minutes to present their project.
It was at 1.40pm when Rwanda Broadcasting Agency’s duo Martina Abera and Sam Kalisa called the first contestant to face the jury.
Another contestant with disability identified as Ruth Uwitonze participated in the Kayonza auditions but, unfortunately, was not able to get a PASS after she failed to impress the jury, meaning that Jeannette Uwimana remains the lone contestant with disability who has a PASS in the ongoing beauty contest.
The auditions saw 14 given a nod to progress to the next round of the contest.
Those who passed include Kevine Musoni Ikirezi, Sheena Teta Uwase, Oliver Mwiza, Patricia Nzamukosha, Pascaline Mutoni, Lidvine Umulisa, Nadia Keza, Lucie Uwase, Esther Uwase, Lynda Nkusi, Queen Ndahiro Mugabekazi, Emma Pascaline Umuhoza, Noella Ibirezi and Nikita Imani Nzobe.
Auditions, which enter the climax, will conclude next weekend, February 13, with the search of contestants who will represent Kigali City from which reigning Miss Rwanda 2021 auditioned.
