Everything else was speculation until the women spoke out themselves! It is now no longer a secret- the girl duo of Charly na Nina is back. Who knew this would happen?
Going by the comments of their fans on their recent social media posts, many thought Charlotte Rulinda and Nina Muhoza had called time on their partnership and there was no looking back.
There had been reports that Nina was looking to pursue a solo career but until now nothing had shown that it would happen.
However, from last week, reports began to surface that the one beloved Charly na Nina would be back in music more than two years when they were last seen together. A lot has been reported since then but the women kept a low profile.
This week they broke the news to their fans that they are back and back they are! The women already have their first gig but their Rwandan fans will have to wait a little longer before they could see them both on stage.
The women are set to have their first performance together but it will be in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where they are expected to perform at the Amani Festival on February 6, in the Eastern DRC city of Goma.
They will perform alongside superstar Mohombi and former Pussy Cat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, among other artistes. They last released a song in March 2020, which was the same month they last performed together.
The dynamic duo is expected to unveil their first Extended Play (EP) with 5 brand new songs, produced by Producer Element.
"It’s been a while. We have been missing you. We hope you have been missing us too,” the songstresses wrote to their fans.
They also asked their fans which collaboration they want to have first, whether it is with an artiste from Rwanda, Uganda, DRC, Tanzania, Cote d’Ivoire, Burundi, Togo, Mali or Kenya
The women, who won the hearts of many with songs such as ‘Face to face’, ‘Agatege’, ‘Nibyo’ and many others, last released a song titled ‘Ibirenze’ in March 2020.
They haven’t been seen on stage together for more than two years. The last performance was in July 2021 at an anti-corruption concern where only Nina showed up.
Now it is understood that the women have worked on the 5 songs with producer Element Eleeh in Country Records and are currently shooting videos for some of the songs.
Music lovers who were hurt by their reported separation will be over the moon when the sassy ladies discovered by Alex Muyoboke drop the EP. The women, who are by far the most famous girl group in Rwanda, have promised their fans more music and performances.
Their departure off the music scene dealt a heavy blow to the music industry, with many speculating that it was not easy for female singers to sustain the momentum in the music industry. Until today there is no all-female music group to claim to have established itself other than Charly na Nina.
