The showbiz industry is abuzz after a cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame on Wednesday, January 26, okayed the return of concerts and outdoor shows to the excitement of show organisers and revellers.
In December last year when the government tightened Covid-19 restrictions in the wake of a surge in cases as the Omicron variant spread, music lovers and concert lovers were set aback, having already got in the party mood.
Many had hoped for a busy end of year with several artistes lined up to perform through the festive season and new year events but it was not meant to be.
Concerts were cancelled and people had to improvise to enjoy in their homes.
With the cabinet okaying the return of events, show organisers are already upbeat even though Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is yet to issue detailed guidelines.
Bruce Intore Twagira, of Intore Entertainment, has already teased music lovers with a possible show of gospel maestros Elevation Worship & Maverick City.
Though nothing is confirmed yet, the buzz is real and music lovers could soon be treated to shows like those they had begun to enjoy before fresh restrictions were imposed. Watch the space.
Charly na Nina back!
According to reliable sources, the dynamic duo of Charly na Nina is back together and will soon be unveiling their first Extended Play (EP) with 5 brand new songs.
The duo of Charlotte Rulinda and Fatuma Nina Umuhoza have been off the music scene, releasing no music, amid reports that they parted ways, a development which they never came out to confirm or refute.
Their return can’t be timelier as concerts return and their fans can now look forward to seeing them back on stage together.
The girls, who won the hearts of many with songs such as ‘Face to face’, ‘Agatege’, ‘Nibyo’ and many others, last released a song titled ‘Ibirenze’ in March 2020.
They haven’t been seen on stage together for more than two years. The last performance was in July 2021 at an anti-corruption concern where only Nina showed up.
Now it is understood that the girls have worked on the 5 songs with producer Element Eleeh in Country Records and are currently shooting videos for some of the songs.
Music lovers who were hurt by their reported separation will be over the moon when the sassy ladies discovered by Alex Muyoboke drop the EP. We can’t wait.
