Different national teams that will compete in the pre-qualifiers of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup have arrived in Kigali ahead of the games scheduled for August 19-25.
The tournament will see eight countries competing in Groups C and D, with the goal of advancing to the world cup’s main qualifying tournament that will take place in March 2026.

Rwanda was placed in Group D, where it will face Great Britain, Argentina, and Lebanon.
Kigali will host the pre-qualifiers for both Groups C and D.
Group C comprises Hungary, Senegal, Brazil and the Philippines.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners of each group securing a place in the main qualifying tournament.

Teams that have already arrived in Rwanda include Brazil, Great Britain, Hungary, Senegal, the Philippines, and Lebanon. Argentina is expected to arrive on Saturday night. The teams will be staying at the Marriott and Four Points by Sheraton hotels during their time in Kigali.
Meanwhile, the Rwandan national team has returned home after a training camp in Mali, where they played two friendly games against the Malian team. Rwanda narrowly lost both games, with scores of 87-90 and 79-91.
