Canadian Jay Lin Gibson and Tunisian Nadine Hamrouni claimed top prizes in the first week of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors (Grade 4) tournament concluded in Kigali on Saturday, August 17.

In a thrilling final of the boys&039; singles at the IPRC Kigali courts, Gibson secured the championship by defeating Burundi’s Allan Gatoto 7-6, 7-5.
On the women side, Hamrouni emerged victorious after a fiercely contested match against Belgian Anouk Vandevelde, winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Gatoto’s journey to the final was marked by a hard-fought semi-final victory over Poland’s Wiktor Jez.
The tournament's second week is set to commence on Monday, August 19 and will run through August 24.
Both Gibson and Hamrouni earned 60 points for their victories, while the runners-up were awarded 36 points each.
Rwanda’s contingent of ten players—eight boys and two girls—unfortunately faced an early exit, with none advancing beyond the first preliminary round.
