It was an emotional event in the evening of Saturday, January 22 when a local sales agent, Patrick Habineza was announced as the winner of Vivo Energy’s brand new Suzuki S-Presso.
"Ooh great and fearful God, how should I be thankful? I have prayed and you heard my prayers, I am glad for your wonderful deeds,” he said in an emotional prayer after being announced the winner.
"Normally, I am a very reserved person who never attends these forms of draws, but because of my job, I drive a lot, so I always go to refill at petrol stations. Then one day, one gas attendant asked me why I did not register for this ‘fuel and win’ promotion,” he recounted.
He said that on the first attempt, he refused, but the same attendant pushed him to do when he returned to refill at Engen, the company whose products are marketed by Vivo Energy.
"Later on, I was told that I won a car but I thought I was being scammed, and to be honest, I still think it is a dream,” said Habineza, after he was handed the car keys.
He won the car as part of the end-year promotional campaign dubbed; "Na Engen ndi Chef w’Umujyi” loosely translated as, "With Engen, I run the town”.
Launched in November 2021, the two-month campaign aimed at rewarding loyal customers for the petroleum company.
Customers who resiliently fueled up at Engen stations engaged in a ruffle draw and stood a chance to win different prizes. The more they fueled up, the more they increased their chances to win during their draws that were held both weekly and monthly and finally the draw for the grand prize.
Apart from the car which was the grand prize, plenty of other motorists have secured assorted prizes including flat screen TV sets, motorbikes, smart phones, shopping and airtime vouchers as well as school fees for students.
Saibou Coulibaly, the Managing Director of VIVO Energy Rwanda said that the campaign was an appreciation token to the customers for sticking with the company through a challenging 2021 and for continuing the adventure with them in 2022.
"This initiative was designed to recognise our loyal customers, so as to give them an opportunity to win different prizes and we hope that they will drastically help them to improve their overall situations whether financially or economically,” he commented after the awarding ceremony.
Vivo Energy operates across North, West, East and Southern Africa in a network of over 2,400 service stations in 23 countries under Engen brands.
The Company which also exports lubricants to a number of African countries, employs around 2,700 people, has access to over 1,000,000 cubic metres of fuel storage capacity and has a joint venture.
