RUBiS Energy announced a partnership with Castrol on August 14 in Kigali to promote its advanced lubricants for vehicles and industries worldwide. Castrol, a British oil company, provides a comprehensive range of industrial and automotive lubricants, including oils and greases for various applications. RUBiS Energy, a French firm, specialises in the storage, distribution, and sale of petroleum, liquefied petroleum gas, and chemical products.

Key policymakers in the energy and fuel sectors attended the launch, where they viewed a gallery showcasing the evolution of Castrol’s products, from the pioneering lubricant for the first transatlantic flight to formulations designed for extreme conditions, including potential use on Mars.

This collaboration celebrates Castrol’s 125 years of innovation and highlights RUBiS Energy Rwanda’s important role in improving the quality and accessibility of premium lubricants in the country.

Jean-Christian Bergeron, CEO of RUBiS in East Africa, stated that the partnership between Castrol and RUBiS Energy has been fruitful, emphasising that the lubricants are blended in Africa, demonstrating their commitment to local industry and quality.

"We are investing massively to rebrand and innovate the gas stations, and I hope the people in Rwanda have seen the job we have done, but also we are promoting new and innovative solutions, and we are expecting that the people in Rwanda will understand that we are bringing the best possible product for them,” he said.

Bergeron also specified that this strategic move not only ensures the availability of high-quality products, but also supports regional manufacturing and distribution.

With the launch of Castrol lubricants in Rwanda, consumers and businesses now have access to a range of products designed to deliver unmatched protection and performance.

Jeanine Kayihura, Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Rwanda, noted that in the last five years after Rubis purchased Kobil, they were using Kobil’s oil, which had to phase out. With RUBiS’ high standards, they had to collaborate with a global oil firm like Castrol.

"With this partnership between RUBiS and Castrol, we are poised to drive the future of lubrication in Rwanda and beyond, ensuring that every vehicle and piece of machinery operates at peak performance while contributing to a greener planet,” she explained.

The general manager of Castrol in East Africa, Ed Savage, underlined that Castrol, known globally for its superior lubricants, has found an ideal partner in Rubis Energy, and they are both committed to quality and innovation.

"Our goal is to provide the people of Rwanda with the best-in-class lubricants, ensuring their vehicles and machinery perform optimally,” he added.

Castrol EDGE, Castrol MAGNATEC, Castrol GTX, Castrol CRB, and many other oil products will be available nationwide at RUBiS Energy Rwanda stations.
