Trade, sports dockets get ministers as Kagame names new cabinet

President Paul Kagame named international trade expert Prudence Sebahizi as the new Minister of Trade and Industry in the new cabinet announced Friday evening.

Sebahizi replaced Jean-Chrysostome Ngabitsinze.

Other new changes in the Cabinet include the announcement of Richard Nyirishema who was named the Minister of Sports, replacing Aurore Mimosa Munyangaju while Christine Nkulikiyinka will be the Minister of Public Service and Labour.

The labour docket was until last month being occupied by Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya was dismissed from cabinet last month.

Doris Uwicyeza Picard is the new Rwanda Governance Board CEO, replacing Usta Kaitesi.

This comes shortly after, on August 13, Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente was reappointed by President Paul Kagame. Ngirente took oath the next day coinciding with the swearing-in of new members of parliament.

According to Rwanda’s constitution, Ministers, Ministers of State, and other Cabinet members are appointed within 15 days following the appointment of the Prime Minister.
