Rwandan striker Meddie Kagere won the top-scorer award as his side Simba SC beat Azam 1-0 in the final of the 2022 Mapinduzi Cup at the Amaan Stadium, in Zanzibar, on Thursday.

Kagere scored from the spot, the lone goal that sank Azam, to hand his side the trophy and also take his tally in the tournament to three goals.

He scored against Young Africans SC, Namungo and Azam, powering Simba to their first Mapinduzi Cup glory since 2015.

Kagere, whose contract expires at the end of this season, has been Simba's best player so far this campaign as he has also netted four times in the domestic league.
