Ugandan singer and songwriter Rema Namakula is set to perform alongside Rwandan R&B sensation, The Ben, in Musanze District today. The duo will perform at the official launch of the Silverbacks Cafe in Musanze.
This performance marks another collaboration between the two artistes, who previously shared the stage at the UMA Show Grounds in Kololo, Kampala, in February this year.
The 33-year-old "Gutujja” hitmaker began her music career during her Senior 6 vacation, starting as a karaoke singer. She later became a backup singer for Ugandan musician Halima Namakula, who mentored her and subsequently joined Bebe Cool's Gagamel group as a backup artiste.
Her breakthrough came in 2016 when she was selected to represent Uganda at Coke Studio Africa alongside other prominent Ugandan artistes, including her ex-boyfriend Eddy Kenzo, Lydia Jazmine, and the then duo Radio and Weasel.
In 2020, Rema collaborated with The Ben on the hit song "This Is Love”, which has since garnered over eight million views on YouTube. The song has been well-received by music enthusiasts and continues to enjoy widespread popularity.

Rema is also known for her other popular singles, including "Oli Wange”, "Katonotono”, "Lean on Me”, "Deep in Love”, "Banyabo”, "Kukaliba”, "Muchuuzi” to name a few, and has solidified her status as one of the leading artistes in the region.
The event in Musanze will also feature performances by renowned Rwandan DJs, DJ Marnaud and DJ Brianne.
Speaking to The New Times, DJ Briane expressed her excitement about being selected by the concert organisers to perform. "I am the second DJ after DJ Marnaud to work with Rema and The Ben. I’m thrilled to have been chosen from many talented DJs in Rwanda. This shows that my style aligns with what they seek, and I’m committed to delivering my best.”
Tickets for the event are priced at Rwf450,000 for a VVIP table for four people, Rwf20,000 for a Platinum ticket, and Rwf10,000 for a Diamond ticket.
