IT’S ONLY FIVE DAYS since the 2022 began but hits are dropping day by day, thanks to different artistes that are making Rwandans start the year in style.

In 2021, Rwanda established artistes that managed to reach out to audiences like never before. Whether it is conquering bangers regionally, to bedroom recordings inciting online fandom, local musicians continue to grow in confidence and stature.

Here are some standout tracks released in the past few days that prove 2022 to be the best year for the industry.

‘Why’ by The Ben ft Diamond Platnumz

After a long wait and hype triggered by snippets released by both two renowned East African artistes and the media, The Ben and Diamond Platnumz premiered ‘Why’, a banger that is taking the whole region by storm.

The song which has generated more than 800,000 views on YouTube within less than a day is already at the top of music charts and is taking over on local airwaves. This is arguably the biggest hit from the region so far in 2022.

Apart from this track, The Ben is also known to collaborate with big names in Africa such as Krizbeats, Rema, Sheebah to mention a few.

‘Lose you’ by Babo ft Ariel Ways

German-based Rwandan singer, Babo, and Ariel Ways, one of the leading female singers in the game, gave us a taste of what to expect in the industry this year. 'Lose you' was much awaited by many music lovers after showbiz journalists linked samples of the song on different social media platforms.

The now hit song was released on January 1, and since then, it has become a huge trend due to its uniqueness in both visuals and sounds.

‘Muzadukumbura’ by Nel Ngabo ft Fireman

Prolific Rwandan musicians Nel Ngabo from Kina Music and Fireman released their joint single titled "Muzadukumbura," a track that boasts the struggles in the music industry. The great chemistry between these two artists ensures that a playful and catchy record is the result. The release is loved by many in the country because of its touching message that exposes pain and problems faced by musicians in the country.

‘Forget’ by Kenny Sol

Young fast-rising artiste and ‘Umurego’' hit song maker, Kenny Sol released another banger titled "Forget '' on December 31, and the song has now become a trend. The song is a club banger that will definitely get you warmed up on the dance floor.

 ‘Agafoto’ by DJ Phil peter ft Marina, Aime Bluestone, Fireman and P Fla

Renowned DJ and Showbiz journalist, Phill Peter, together with other top musicians in the country, came together and recorded a banger titled ‘Agafoto’, another amapiano hit made in Rwanda after ‘Kamwe’. The song is also a club jam that is going to make ‘Kigalians’ groove once clubs re-open.
