Etoile de l'Est central midfielder Prince Ampong has had a successful operation as he races for fitness to continue his career.
The talented enforcer has not played a single game for the newly promoted side this season as he was battling a meniscus injury, which has kept him out of action since his move from now-defunct Ghanaian second tier outfit Amidaus Professionals.
Times Sport can confirm that Ampong underwent the surgery on Sunday, December 26, at Dream Medical Centre (DMC), in Kigali, and he is set to return to training in three weeks.
Ampong's comeback will be good news for the Ngoma-based club as he is expected to bring stability into their midfield in their quest to at least finish in the top half of the 16-team table at the end of the ongoing 2021/22 league season.
The Ghana-born midfielder had successful trials with SC Kiyovu but a deal to sign for the Green Baggies hit a snag at the last minute, prompting Etoile to swoop for him in September this year.
He also previously had stints in the Southern African country of Swaziland.
