The Amavubi of Rwanda finished 2021 in 135th place in the Coca Cola FIFA world ranking which was released by the world football governing body on Thursday.
It was an uninspiring year for the Rwandan national team as they could only win two competitive games which was against Togo at the CHAN championship and Mozambique in an AFCON qualifier causing them to drop in the rankings.
On the African continent, the Amavubi, are ranked 39th with AFCON participants Comoros and Ethiopia at 38th and 40th respectively.
The highest ranked African team is Senegal who are aiming to play a friendly game with the Amavubi ahead of the AFCON. The Teranga Lions are 20th in the world and 1st on the continent,
Rwanda's highest ever FIFA ranking was 64th which was in March 2015 and the lowest remains 178th position in July 1999.
The next FIFA ranking is scheduled for February 2022.
