Rwanda's High Commissioner to Asian countries including India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, Jacqueline Mukangira, on Tuesday, December 21, presented her Letters of Credence to Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the President of Sri Lanka.
Mukangira will undertake these diplomatic duties while resident in New Delhi, India.
In a ceremony that took place the President’s House in Colombo, the Sri Lankan capital, the envoy pointed out that both countries enjoy good and friendly bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties between in 2011.
She promised to put more effort in deepening existing relations during her tenure.
On his part, President Rajapaksa congratulated the Mukangira on her new assignments, and he conveyed best wishes to President Paul Kagame and commended Rwanda’s great achievements
The President and the High Commissioner also shared their views on bilateral relations in various new areas of cooperation.
Rwanda and Sri Lanka have existing agreements and cooperate in the areas of Defence and Security, Bilateral Air Service Agreement and Capacity Building.
Last week, as Rwanda's first ambassador to Nepal, Mukangira presented her Letters of Credence to Bidya Devi Bhandari, the President of the Asian country.
