Rwanda, today December 10, joined the world to celebrate Human Rights Day held at under this year’s theme "Reducing inequalities, advancing Human Rights”.

Renowned Rwandan artiste Mani Martin alongside Kesho Band performed during the event.

According to Jean Claude Ndatuwera, The Communication Officer at National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR), Mani Martin was chosen as a performer because of his music style messages on unity, love, and peace among the peopl

The ‘Urukumbuzi’ hitmaker, speaking to The New Times, said that the opportunity means a lot to him as well as his career.

"This means a lot to me,  being chosen out of all other artists to perform at this international event and it’s also given me the perceptive of my music I couldn’t imagine people have on my music,” he said

He added that human rights are something that speak a lot to him and as an artist, he chose to use his music as a contribution in protecting and promoting human rights.

Commenting on his selection of songs, he said that all his songs are human rights related because he sings about peace, love, unity, and humanity, among others.

The songs he performed include ‘Icyo dupfana ’, ‘Destiny’ and ‘Afro’ among with others.  

He added that he is about to release more songs on his new EP adding that he also plans to resume the annual concerts he used to do before the covid-19 outbreak in Rwanda.
