National football league’s nine time champions APR’s influential Twite brothers are set for transfer to Belgian side Fc Racing Genk in the next European football season.

Club chairman Brig. Gen. Alex Kagame told Times Sport yesterday that the transfer deal for Mbuyu Twite and Kabange Twite has been finalized and the duo will depart for Belgium after this weekend’s league match against bitter rivals Atraco.

"The twins will depart for Genk over the weekend and will spend two weeks at the club. The twins will not undergo trials but Genk wants the players to acclimatize themselves with the club’s setup before the new season kicks off later this year before signing the deal,” Kagame said.

According to Kagame, as part of the deal, Fc Genk has promised first team football to the brothers thus saving them from the mandatory two weeks of trials.

The trick of saving the brothers from the trials put Genk in the front seat for the siblings beating Spanish side Getafe to the signature of Mbuyu Twite who also preferred to move along with his brother Kabange, who the La Liga side was uninterested in.

Mbuyu who moved from Congolese side St Eloi Lupopo in 2006 along with his brother, has been in exceptional form for both club and country after becoming a Rwandan. However after having an explosive first season for APR, Kabange has gone cold in front of goal.   

K.R.C. Genk is one of the most successful clubs in Belgium as Racing Genk often qualifies for European competitions. It won the championship and the cup twice since 1998.

The club has been in the first division since earning promotion from the second division league during the 1996/97 season.

Racing Genk is placed fourth on the Jupiler Pro League standings with 50 points in 30 matches played this season.

Anderlecht leads the standings 67 points with a wider goal difference of 37 to 34 for Standard de Liege who has accumulated the same points too.

The duo joins Rwanda’s internationals Jimmy Mulisa and Henri Munyaneza who ply their in the Belgian league.

La Liga’s Racing Santander striker Mohammed Tchite a.k.a Meme is regarded as the best player from Rwanda to have featured in the Jupiler Pro League.

Tchite started his footballing career with Prince Louis in Bujumbura before featuring for Rwanda’s Mukura Victory Sports FC in 2002.

In 2003, Tchite made his professional debut for Belgian club Standard Liege.

He publicly made his intentions of playing for Belgium clear when he became a Belgian citizen back in July, 2008 but Fifa denied him the right to feature for Belgium.
