The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Handball Club on Saturday, December 5 successfully defended the East and Central Africa Handball Federation (ECAHF) clubs championship after overcoming Kenya's Cereals 28-27 in the finals in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Police Handball Club won the regional clubs championship in style as the only side that truimphed unbeaten.
Six clubs participated in this year's club championship in the men category.
Police Handball Club and Kiziguro secondary school represented Rwanda.
The law enforcers were in group B alongside Black Mamba of Kenya and Zanzibar's Nyuki.
Group A was composed of Cereals (Kenya), JKT (Tanzania) and Ngome (Tanzania).
The champions beat Black Mamba 25-19 in their opening match before seeing off Nyuki on 28-22 to book their place in the semi-finals.
In the semis, the law enforcers eliminated Ngome of Zanzibar on 29 goals to 23 to set the final show down with Kenya's Cereals, who booked their final place after beating Black Mamba.
It was a title finals as the first half ended 17-16 in favour of the defending champions.
The Police Handball Coach, Antoine Ntabanganyimana commended the RNP leadership for continuous support, which he said is the foundation for their successful performance
"The players were impressive throughout the tournament with a winning character built on the institutional support. It is a trophy for the club, Rwanda National Police and our country," Ntabanganyimana said.
The 2022 championship will be held in Zanzibar.
