Following the debate that was instigated by many who were advocating for the banning of Koffi Olomide’s concert in Kigali, organisers have made it clear that the concert will go on this weekend at Kigali Arena.

The clarification was made through a statement published yesterday by Intore Entertainment, a private entity that is organising the event.

"As an entertainment company, we are neither qualified nor in the position to pronounce ourselves on the moral and criminal allegations. We strongly believe that such matters be handled by appropriate institutions including courts of law and others,” reads the statement.

The Entertainment Company said that it strongly advocates and subscribes to equality and respect, especially for the female gender.

"We also respect the opinions and rights of those with differing views on the entertainer,” the statement adds.

Intore Entertainment noted that it also respects thousands of fans who expressed interest to participate in this concert, and promised to deliver a safe and entertaining event this Saturday.

The statement boosted more debates on social media platforms where many welcomed it with prompt, and others still advocated for its banning.

Reactions

"This is well put. We cannot prosecute him in courts of public opinion,” tweet by David Butera.

"Fair enough! The show must go on, respecting all sides. I believe for those seeking justice, it will be served at some point. From a business and entertainment perspective, this is what should happen. It doesn't mean that the voices haven't been heard,” a tweet by Edmund Kagire.

"Entertainment Cos are not only qualified to pronounce themselves on moral principles and have policies on criminal behaviour but MUST. We need you to visualize the world we dream of, One that truly respects all and brings people together for positive change,” Elizabeth Jeanette commented on the statement.

The almost sold out event will feature other renowned Rwandan artistes such as King James, Buravan and Christ Hat.
