Tomorrow we celebrate ‘World Earth Day’, a day which reminds us of the place that God created for us to live in. When you think about the earth, a lot of images run in your mind. Some can be images of forests, lakes, birds, rivers, soil, mountains, hills and a lot more.

This is our natural environment. We all need to understand that the environment is important and can be used to our advantage. This means everyone can try their best to protect and conserve the environment.
As children, there are many things we can do in order to preserve the earth. We can keep it clean by not littering every where, instead put all rubbish in the dustbin or rubbish pit. We can plant trees and encourage others to do the same.
From what you learn at school, you can also teach others on the dangers of cutting down trees too much. This destroys the homes of all animal and birds in the wild.
Also lakes and rivers need to be protected. Since they have a lot of water, does not mean people should contaminate them with toxic materials and rubbish. They have to be kept clean because they are the water sources we have in our country Rwanda.
I encourage every child to love the earth that God has given us by looking after it.
