Amavubi midfielder Olivier Niyonzima has apologized for the misconduct he showed in Kenya recently after a world cup qualifier against the Harambee stars of kenya.

Niyonzima was suspended indefinitely from Amavubi a day after Rwanda suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Kenya during the final 2022 Qatar World Cup Qualifier held in Nairobi on November 15.

The player reportedly did not spend the night at the Amavubi hotel in Nairobi and was later spotted partying in a club in a video that circulated on social media. It was also reported that he did not travel with the national team back to Kigali.

In a letter addressed to FERWAFA president Olivier Nizeyimana, Niyonzima, expressed his regrets about the bad behavior he showed and begged for a second chance in the national team.

"I apologise to all Rwandans in general, the technical staff, teammates and the management officials with whom we traveled for a match in Kenya. I showed bad conduct which goes against the national team values when I ignored the instructions issued by our delegation leaders which resulted in being penalized,” Niyonzima said in the letter.
