Jean Vianney Nduwamungu, the chief instructor of ISKF Rwanda and an internationally recognised karate master, led the session. He emphasised the importance of these training sessions in standardising karate techniques across the nation.
He also acknowledged the steady improvement in the level of Shotokan Karate in Rwanda, attributing it to consistent training and the growing expertise of the instructors.
"Karate in Rwanda is on the rise, and it&039;s crucial that we ensure that all practitioners are on the same level, especially in terms of technique,” he noted.
Nguwamungu also urged the participants to share the knowledge they gained with others who couldn’t attend, promoting a collective promotion of Karate skills nationwide.
Christian Kamuzinzi, the coach of the Rwandan National Karate Team, was one of those who participated in the training.
He pointed out the critical role such sessions play in preparing aspiring instructors and advanced practitioners for higher responsibilities, including potential spots on the national team.
"These sessions are essential for correcting and perfecting techniques, especially for those aiming to become instructors. They ensure that when players join the national team, they are already at a high level of proficiency," he noted.
Kamuzinzi highlighted that consistent training not only benefits individual players but also contributes to the overall success of the sport in Rwanda.
Geoffrey Bungeri, the Deputy Director of ISKF Rwanda, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the progress being made through the training programs.
He mentioned that ISKF Rwanda is becoming a cornerstone for the development of Karate in the country, with plans to make the training sessions a regular monthly event.
"The participation from across the country shows the growing interest and commitment to Karate in Rwanda. We are thrilled with the progress and look forward to hosting these sessions more frequently,” he said.
