RENOWNED GOSPEL SINGER Serge Iyamuremye is set to release his debut album dubbed ‘Urugendo’ before this year ends. The album represents his journey as a gospel musician as he celebrates his 10 years’ anniversary in the gospel music industry.
The album will have 10 songs, three or four of them will feature other famous gospel musicians whom he decided to keep a secret as a surprise to his fans.
‘Urugendo’ is his fourth album to be launched after his recent single dubbed ‘Lion’ that is currently taking over in the gospel music industry. He is also nominated for Gospel Touch Music Awards as ‘Best African artistes’ of year 2021.
According Iyamuremye this album represents his 10-year journey as a gospel singer and what God did for him.
"I cannot say that it has been an easy journey but as a Christian I leaned on God and He gave me strength to keep doing gospel music. At times I had to invest a lot of money with no expectations of earning it back. Even though it took some time, God paved a way for me and things got smoother and started to earn some compared to the past years,” he said.
Honestly, Gospel music industry today has a lot of money but I also think it is not better than it used to be in the past because we used to make songs expecting nothing to come out it. But now, some artistes do gospel music with a target of making money on their YouTube channels and wondering how much they will make from iTunes rather than spreading the gospel. The love and passion of doing gospel music has declined a lot over the years.
Iyamuremye is mostly known for songs like ‘Biramvura’, ‘Yesu araje’, ‘Yesu agarutse’, ‘Yari njyewe’ and ‘Ishimwe’ among others. He joined gospel music in 2012 and his music has continued to see a boost ever since.
