A year of achievements
Celebrating one year in Rwanda, Canal + Rwanda is marking its inaugural anniversary with three main aspects: affordable prices, more content and giving back to the community.
For the past one year, prices on their products were often reduced to provide affordable content to their clients. At least four promotional drives were conducted during the year including during the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN), in which the Rwandan football team Amavubi featured.
To provide more interesting and diversified content, 10 local channels and 15 English channels were added to all Canal + Rwanda offerings, as well as an education channel, Nathan TV, which was introduced at the request of parents.
As a business organisation, Canal + also established a number of partnerships to give back to the community including supporting different sports championships including Tour du Rwanda, Kigali Peace Marathon, Basketball Africa League, Afrobasket, beach volleyball and a partnership with Rayon Sport soccer club through the Gikundiro Family.
To give back to the Community, the content distributor has also partnered with Empower Rwanda to fight Gender Based Violence and rising teenage pregnancies, established a partnership to enhance e-waste management, and supported vulnerable students in Kigali city, Nyagatare, Rusizi, Huye and Musanze districts.
However, according to Canal + management, more goodies are expected during the coming year, including a popular hidden camera show (Canal+ Piégé) that is set to debut on Rwandan screens.
