The University of Kigali is set to hold its 6th graduation ceremony, and it is billed to be the biggest to be held by the private higher learning institution.

The colourful ceremony will be held at Kigali Arena on Friday December 3 2021.

This year’s ceremony will be held under the theme; "Seize the Future” which was crafted to encourage all graduands to go out and excel and bear true witness to the excellent tuition and student experiences they have been exposed to while at campus.

The issue of large numbers and the choice of the venue for the event is significant at three levels:

Covid-19 did not disrupt classes as the University transitioned seamlessly to e-learning platforms and delivered teaching services to students remotely.

Secondly, UoK Faculty and Administrators demonstrated remarkable resilience in going to extra mile to serve students who themselves had to adapt to the remote teaching models, and this co-production of service was very well executed. 

The event will take place at the prestigious world class sports Arena. Kigali Arena is the biggest indoor arena in East Africa. The iconic nature of this East African landmark is a mirror of the innovative nature of the University of Kigali.

On a continent where several major Universities are still confining themselves to virtual graduations, UoK has taken a bold step to host its graduation in a 10,000-seater arena to ensure that all Covid-19 protocols are observed. 

According to the Graduation Event Committee Chairman, CPA Doreen Njeru, the decision to host the event at Kigali Arena was another manifestation of the student-centered nature of the University of Kigali.

The UoK School of Graduate Studies is seeking to not only provide knowledge to its students but also to add value by opening opportunities to its students.

Fred Ruzindana, an MBA Project management student also notes that; "The certification training was not only attended by Project management students but also other masters students from economics, accounting and finance, supply chain management and public administration.”

University of Kigali has also set aside several scholarships opportunities to the best graduates from this graduation who wish join its Graduate School. The first priority will be given to students who have graduated with first class Bachelors’ Degrees during this year’s ceremony.
