President-elect Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame arrived at the Amahoro National Stadium at a quarter past 3 pm on Sunday afternoon, for the former’s inauguration ceremony.

Kagame’s arrival attracted a thunderous applause as he made an entrance, shortly after the arrival of foreign dignitaries. Only the Presidents of Togo, Madagascar, and South Sudan arrived later.

The applause went on for minutes, partly drowning the address by Masters of Ceremony, before Kagame took his seat.

The 45,000-seater stadium was made more colorful by people clad in various colors.

This is a developing story.
