Rayon Sports’ captain Kevin Muhire has been named Player of the Season for the 2023/24 Primus National League.
The talented midfielder secured the honour despite fierce competition from Police FC's Elijah Ani and APR's Jean Bosco Ruboneka.
Held on Friday, August 9, the awarding ceremony saw a number of accolades given to various players and coaches who performed well during the previous season.
Muhire’s performances for Rayon last season were instrumental in propelling the team to a second-place finish despite the departure of key players such as former captain Abdul Rwatubyaye, Congolese midfielder Heritier Nzinga Luvumbu, and Ugandan winger Joackim Ojera.
The midfielder’s quality shone in several crucial matches, for instance, one against Etoile de l'Est in Ngoma, where he scored a late winner.
Muhire takes over the best player’s title from Leandre Onana, a former Rayon Sports player who won it in the 2022/23 campaign.
