ORINFOR boss arrested

KICUKIRO - The Director of the government information agency (ORINFOR), Oscar Kimanuka, is under police custody. The Police confirmed that Kimanuka was arrested Saturday on suspicions of corruption but could give no further details. He is being held at Kicukiro Police station.

KICUKIRO - The Director of the government information agency (ORINFOR), Oscar Kimanuka, is under police custody. The Police confirmed that Kimanuka was arrested Saturday on suspicions of corruption but could give no further details. He is being held at Kicukiro Police station.

"Yes, he was arrested today, but we cannot give you any more details so not to jeopardize investigations,” Police spokesman, John Uwamungu, told The New Times yesterday evening.

ORINFOR is the government agency that runs the state television, radio and two newspapers; Imvaho Nshya and La Nouvelle Releve. 

Kimanuka is the latest victim of a government crackdown on senior government officials suspected of corruption and abuse of office.
