MISS TOURISM WORLD RWANDA, Stella Matutina Murekatete, is in Albania to represent Rwanda at the Miss Globe 2021, held in Tirana, Albania.

She is set to compete with contestants from different countries around the world in the city of Tirana.

She was crowned Miss Tourism Rwanda mid this year in Miss Global Beauty Rwanda, a beauty contest that gives six winners opportunities to represent the country in different international beauty pageants.

The annual beauty pageant in Rwanda, organised by Embrace Africa is with aim of giving more Rwandan women an opportunity to represent Rwanda in more international beauty pageants.

The 21-year-old told The New Times that they are visiting different places and make trips to different cities of Albania.

"We are visiting the mayor today to share our experiences as well as our projects and how we plan to go about them after the competition is over. Most of our activities involve tourism and it is a good experience so far.

The beauty contest will crown The Miss Globe, Miss Tourism, Miss Friendship and Miss people’s choice among others.

"Getting support from Rwandans will be a huge opportunity for me to move to the next step because they also look at how our countries supports us,” she said.

Murekatete is upbeat about representing the country in the contest, saying she will do her best to emerge the global winner.

"I am so honoured to be representing my country in such a big beauty contest,” she said, "I will do everything I can to raise the Rwandan flag and promote the Visit Rwanda campaign, whether I bring the crown or not.”

Murekatete recently opened a YouTube channel with content that shows her viewers the beauty of different places in the country and she invites them to visit Rwanda.

"This beauty contest is such a big opportunity to different girls who have been shy to help them stand out for themselves and believe in their voices,” she added.

The public knew this beauty pageant in 1988, but this international beauty contest has been listing winners since 1925.

Voting by the public will be done via The Miss Globe website, www.themissglobe.com.

The next Miss Globe will replace Lorinda Kolgeci from The Republic of Kosovo who was crowned in 2020.

The winner of this year’s edition will be announced during the contest’s glamorous grand finale on November 5, in Tirana, Albania.
