GRACE TURIKUMWE, a.k.a Grace Touch, earlier this month, released her first Extended Play (EP) titled, ‘Let’s Shine’ that introduced her to the music industry as a female producer.
"I am more of a good song writer and a producer than a singer. That is why I made all the instrumental on my Extended Play then found some artists that were the perfect fit for the vibes of my songs.” Grace Touch told The New Times.
Grace who owns a studio, ‘Shine’ said that she decided to name her first EP after the studio.
Grace a female producer who graduated from Nyundo School of Music.
After doing several songs for other artists, she wanted to express herself in the Rwandan music industry with a 3 song - EP as her intro.
When asked about the feedback she has got so far after the EP release, she told The New Times, "so many people were surprised, because they didn’t expect a girl to do such bangers and that gave me the courage to continue. I’ve received good feedback and I’ll never disappoint the people who trusted me.”
The first song on the EP, ‘Mutijima’ by Bigogwe, is a wedding song that talks about culture and the beauty of a bride called ‘Mutijima’
The second song, ‘Winanirana’ by Mistaek is about a girl in a relationship who never expresses what she really wants.
The third one, ‘Ngwiki’ by Fox Makare is a rap song that describes the artiste’s struggles in his career.
Grace majored in Music Composition, Piano and Music Production at Nyundo Music School. All the artists and producers who are on her EP are alumni of the school.
